- Activu’s intelligent visualization and collaboration solution was first installed at New Jersey’s Statewide Traffic Management Center in Woodbridge, New Jersey – a collaborative multi-agency effort between New Jersey’s DOT, Turnpike Authority and State Police to better manage and coordinate statewide traffic
- Activu has now been installed at NJDOT’s Traffic Operations Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey, which serves as a backup to the main Woodbridge TMC
- This new deployment underscores NJDOT’s high-degree of satisfaction with Activu’s network-based solution and its suitability for large-scale centralized traffic management applications
ROCKAWAY, NJ: Activu® Corporation’s leading IP-based visualization and collaboration solution is now installed at the New Jersey Department of Transportation South Traffic Operations Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey (NJDOT STOC).
NJDOT had earlier selected Activu’s network-based video wall solution for its state-of-the-art integrated, multi-agency Statewide Traffic Management Center (NJ-STMC) in Woodbridge, New Jersey – a collaborative effort between NJDOT, the NJ Turnpike Authority and NJ State Police for collaborative traffic and incident management in routine and emergency situations.
After several years of successful large-scale field deployment and inter-agency collaboration at NJ-STMC, NJDOT again chose Activu when it was time to upgrade the visualization system at its South Traffic Operations Center in Cherry Hill, New Jersey – an extension that critically supports the Woodbridge STMC facility and also doubles as its backup for operational redundancy. With Activu, the Cherry Hill facility can plug into the same NJDOT network resources, cameras and monitoring devices as the Woodbridge center and replicate information visualization and response without additional capital outlays.
The upgraded video wall at Cherry Hill includes six 50-inch SXGA+ Mitsubishi LED cubes in a 2-high x 3-wide configuration. Activu software provides operator-controlled visualization and display and is connected to NJDOT’s network backbone – so STOC operators receive simultaneous feeds, video views, images and data from the same cameras and monitoring devices as the Woodbridge STMC, thus making Cherry Hill STOC a fully redundant backup TMC through sharing of existing network resources without incurring additional capital expense.
“Activu has a long and strong association with NJDOT. We have benefited significantly from NJDOT’s feedback on adapting Activu for large-scale TMCs so I can definitely say that this is a valuable two-way relationship for us. Activu’s deployment at the Woodbridge Statewide Traffic Management Center was a solid real-world test of our scalability, network-based functionality and inter-agency interoperability, and I am delighted that NJDOT chose the Activu solution again for their Cherry Hill TOC.” – Activu CEO, Paul Noble.
